Sangha means community – a gathering of people who come together to practice, learn and support one another. That’s why I’ve chosen to call my newsletter Sangha; it reflects the spirit of connection and shared growth.
To be honest, I’ve been putting off writing this first newsletter. I was putting so much pressure on myself to create something that would be helpful, meaningful, worthwhile. I was afraid it wouldn’t be good enough.
Similar to what I shared in my first blog—doing something new can feel intimidating; there’s anxiety of feeling like you don’t belong, you’re unsure of what to do, but it’s in those exact moments that growth can occur.
I am a living example of this! I am opening a new yoga “studio” and I don’t know everything. I never put my picture on a flyer; I never sent a newsletter, I never used Instagram and I’m still learning how to share that I am here to help. I’m walking into all of this newness and it’s both scary and exhilarating. I am so excited to share a yoga practice with you and at the same time, I’m terrified that you may not like it.
However, one of the greatest lessons I learned from my teacher is to teach from your heart, and focus on what you do know. So that is what I will do – with openness and vulnerability, full of hope and fear. And I will share what I do know: through consistent, intentional practice, you will change and grow and connect in ways you have not experienced. I would be honored to be your yoga teacher. Together, we can acknowledge being uncomfortable, but we will do it anyway…we will do it scared – as a Sangha – and we will grow.
I hope you will join me on this very special first day. Together, we will celebrate a new beginning and come together to support a charitable cause.
Yours truly,
Martie
